RjDj Sprint Lab @ PICNIC09

After my recent entries on our adventures at the London Music Hack Day and about how we put together ShakeNRoll, the ookoi's première scène for the augmented audio-reality and reactive music iThing application RjDj, here is your chance to try all of this yourselves!

In cooperation with Mediamatic, we present a one-day RjDj Sprint Lab at the upcoming Amsterdam PICNIC09, on wednesday september 23rd. Place to be is the PicNic Mediamatic HQ, right next to the Gashouder on the Westergasfabriekterrein. In the morning, between 10 and 12h, together sprint with RjDj's Florian Waldner, we will introduce the ideas and philosophy behind reactive music and the RjDj iThing application. The afternoon is for a hands-on session, where you will be led through the steps necessary to compose and create your own reactive music scenes. Some knowledge of Pure Data might come in handy, but you will surely learn a lot, even if you did never use PD before. Be sure though to bring your laptop, and - if you have one - bring your iThing.
To participate it suffices to register at the PicNic site for the morning- and/or the afternoon session, and we will see you next wednesday at the Mediamatic Camp Site!

As a grand finale, at the end of the PicNic Sprint, participants will showcase the results of their work. Be prepared also for the ookoi, who at some point might jump in, and do some ShakeNRoll. They also plan to present Project Icarus OST, a brand-new scene based upon the original soundtrack composed and recorded for part of Dick Tuinder's upcoming feature-film Winterland, which will premiere at the Nederlands Film Festival on tuesday september 29th.
